Cowdry-X is a powder metallurgical steel produced by Daido Steel Co Ltd in Nagoya, Japan. It is reputed to be hardenable to between 66 - 68 HRc. It is gradually gaining recognition and is used by Hattori for high grade kitchen knives and a few hunting knives.

Composition

 C   Cr  Mo  V 
 3% 10% 1% 3%

Not much more is known about this blade material. Unverified information indicates that it is available from Jantz supply, although I have not been able to find it on their site or ascertain a price.
